Ogden City Business Incentives

Ogden City offers business assistance for select projects using the various tools outlined below. Please contact our team for more information about which incentives may be available for your business.

State of Utah Business Incentives

  • Job Training Assistance - The State of Utah provides several job training assistance programs.
    • Custom Fit training is offered by Utah’s applied technology colleges. The colleges develop and coordinate training programs customized to employers’ needs. Up to 35% of the employers’ training costs may be covered.
    • On-the-Job (OJT) training is offered by the Division of Workforce Services (DWS). DWS helps employers provide training for new hires specific to their new job requirements. DWS reimburses employers for up to 50% of the participants’ wages during training.
  • EDTIF Tax Credit - A post-performance, refundable tax credit up to 30 percent of new state tax revenues (including state corporate, sales and withholding taxes) over the life of the project (typically 5-10 years).
    • REQUIREMENTS
      • Create at least 50 new jobs
      • Pay at least 125 percent of county average wage
      • Demonstrate company stability and profitability
      • Secure commitment from local community to provide a local incentive
      • Demonstrate competition with other locations
      • Enter into an incentive agreement with GOED that specifies performance milestones
  • Industrial Assistance Fund - A post-performance grant for the creation of high-paying jobs.
    • REQUIREMENTS
      • Create new jobs
      • Pay at least 125 percent of county average wage
      • Secure commitment from local community to provide a local incentive
      • Enter into an incentive agreement with GOED that specifies performance milestones
  • Small Business Bridge Program
    • The Bridge Program is intended to help small businesses bear the training costs from creating new jobs. Businesses can receive up to $4,500 for each new job created.
  • Utah Clean Air Small Business Assist Program
    • The Assist Program provides grants of up to $15,000 to small businesses that are required to upgrade equipment to become compliant with state clean air regulations. The grant amount must be matched by the business.
  • Sales Tax Exemption for Manufacturing Equipment
    • Manufacturers (SIC 2000–3999) are exempt from sales tax on the purchase of new equipment for Utah plant start-up.  Replacement manufacturing equipment purchases are also exempt from sales tax.
  • Research Tax Credits
    • Companies doing qualified research in Utah are eligible for income tax credits of up to 6% of qualified research expenses. Qualified research expenses include purchase price of equipment and machinery used for the research.
